Activity Suggestions

Audio recordings made or played using tablet devices can meet virtually any standard performance indicator depending on the content of the recording and how the activity is structured. Even the most basic app will require a little orientation, while voice-to-text, music composition, and note-taking apps will require more direct instruction in their use. Once app basics are mastered, it’s time to get creative. Remember that, in addition to the academic content being covered, audio recordings can also be used to target specific skills in listening and speaking. Students of all ages can create and use audio recordings. Audio production projects work best when set up for small groups, with the exception of voice-to-text and note-taking, which tend to work better for individuals. Whole-class projects work well with very young children with many types of audio recordings and musical composition. Remember that many of these projects can serve a dual purpose. First, speaking skills can be addressed as recordings are made, and then listening skills as students use recordings made by their classmates. Here are some ideas that can be used by teachers and students.
